Nominations open for Marketing Academy’s 2022 Scholarship programme

Just 30 places are available on the highly competitive development course, which aims to train up-and-coming marketers with the skills they need to take on senior roles.

The Marketing Academy has opened nominations for the next intake of its popular Scholarship programme in the UK as the annual training course enters its 13th year.

Just 30 places are available on the programme, so it has become highly competitive in recent years. Last year, more than 700 marketers from brands, media owners and agencies were nominated for the highly sought after spots.

Potential Scholars must be nominated by their bosses or peers on the Marketing Academy website before 18 February 2022 to be considered for selection.

The free annual programme is designed to develop the skills of high-potential leadership talent within the wider marketing sector and prepare them to take on senior and board-level roles.

Scholars are given access to a line-up of C-suite mentors and executive coaches in addition to a part-time residential curriculum. This year’s programme will run between May 2022 and January 2023.

Last year’s cohort of scholars include Kind’s global brand director Alexa Dalton, UKTV’s head of marketing Cherie Cunningham, BT’s senior marketing manager Lewis Ferrand, and KFC UK and Ireland’s head of food Joanna Tivers.

The Marketing Academy’s founder and global CEO, Sherilyn Shackell, says the development of leadership talent has “never been as vital as it is today”.

“The ability to navigate the future of business, as the world changes around us, is the key to the wellbeing and prosperity of our industry in every context,” she says.

“Along with our community of mentors, coaches and faculty we are totally committed to investing in our exceptional talent and enabling them to thrive with a curriculum aimed at supercharging their potential and maximising their impact.”

Having graduated as a 2021 Scholar from the Australian version of the programme, Salesforce’s vice-president and CMO of APAC marketing, Leandro Perez, adds: “Becoming a great leader is incredibly hard. It’s less about functional expertise and more about understanding yourself deeply, the impact you can have on others and being inspired to constantly improve.

“The Marketing Academy provides a talented peer community paired with immersive learning, coaching and mentoring to support leaders on their journey towards this goal.”
