The Government would continue to refine legal regulations to address obstacles in implementing power infrastructure projects.It would build a smart and flexible power grid with high automation capabilities and address the legal issues hampering renewable energy projects, ensuring accurate and reasonable pricing to encourage the development of new energy sources.Over the longer term, the Government had proposed to the relevant authorities to restart nuclear power projects and robust development of offshore wind energy. In the northern province of Quảng Ninh, directly hit by the storm on September 7, electricity has been re-supplied for over 85 per cent of the customers.EVN units in northern Việt Nam are continuing to mobilise personnel, vehicles, and equipment to repair the damage caused by the storm and ensure full power restoration to the remainders as soon as possible.The Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) and the Hà Nội Power Corporation (EVNHanoi) have respectively deployed 273 and 200 workers to Quảng Ninh to assist in restoring the power grid.Due to heavy rainfall following the typhoon, a large volume of water flowed into hydropower reservoirs in the North, prompting the controlled release of water as directed by the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control. Officials at the conference commended this move, saying that this will speed up large project implementation, but noted that this should not apply to small projects.The draft law will also simplify the procedures for planning medium-term and annual public investment, as well as for capital appraisal.

Meanwhile, the mining sector was down 6 percent.The IIP surged in 61 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide, according to the GSO.In the reviewed period, 168,100 enterprises were founded or resumed operations.Earlier, the S&amp;P Global Viet Nam Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index™ (PMI®) posted 52.4 points in August, down from 54.7 points in July but still signaling a solid monthly improvement in business conditions midway through the third quarter. Operating conditions have now strengthened in each of the past five months.Strong growth of new orders and softer cost pressures led manufacturers to increase purchasing activity sharply during August. Moreover, the rate of growth quickened for the fourth month running to the fastest since May 2022.Manufacturers remained optimistic that output will increase over the coming year, based on expectations of further improvements in customer demand and new orders. Sentiment dropped for the second month running, however, and was the lowest since January./.

The index of industrial production (IIP) increased by 8.6 percent in the first eight months of 2024, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said Friday.

It is moving at 10-15 km per hour in a west-northwest direction.The storm will likely pass between Hainan Island and the Leizhou Peninsula before entering the Gulf of Tonkin between the night of September 6 and the morning of September 7.By 7 a.m. on September 6, the storm is forecasted to be over the northern Gulf of Tonkin, about 190 kilometers east-southeast of Quang Ninh province, with wind speeds at levels 13-14 and gusts reaching level 17.Yagi is expected to make landfall on September 7, impacting coastal areas from Quang Ninh to Ninh Binh.The northern East Sea will experience strong winds and rough seas, with winds reaching levels 14-16 near the storm's eye. The Gulf of Tonkin will also see increasing winds from levels 8-9, intensifying to levels 10-12, with severe sea conditions.Heavy rain is anticipated in the northern and north-central regions from the night of September 6 to the morning of September 9, with rainfall expected to range from 100-300 mm, and some areas seeing over 500 mm./.
