President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Thursday hosted a welcome ceremony for President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is on a three-day official visit to Viet Nam.

The visit, the first by a head of State between Viet Nam and Uganda, is an important milestone in the bilateral ties. It takes place in the context of the two countries looking towards the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties (February 9, 1973)
The bilateral trade reaches US$14.3 million in 2021 up 39.8 percent from the previous year
As of October 2022, Uganda runs three projects worth US$90,000 in Ho Chi Minh City, specializing in wholesale and retail, and car and motorbike repair. Meanwhile, Viet Nam counts two projects on mining and construction in Uganda with a total investment capital of US$35.5 million
